Quick Signings Update
June 6, 2002 Here's a quick signings update. In the coming days, Baseball America will launch full team-by-team signings information as well as a bonus chart. As stated in our Reds draft report, third overall pick Chris Gruler has signed for a $2.5 million bonus. Also, the Reds announced oral agreements with second-rounder Joey Votto (for $600,000) and sixth-rounder Walter Olmstead. Eighth overall pick Scott Moore and the Tigers have agreed to terms with a $2.3 million bonus. The Rockies have agreed to terms with their top pick (ninth overall), Jeff Francis, who received a $1.85 million signing bonus. The Angels and top pick (12th overall) Joe Saunders have agreed on a deal with a reported $1.825 million bonus. He will start at rookie-level Provo in the Pioneer League. Royce Ring, the 18th overall pick to the White Sox, has signed for $1.6 million. The Athletics have come to terms with their second supplemental pick (37th overall), Steve Obenchain, for $750,000. |
