College Top 25: May 31
Staff Report
May 31, 2010
DURHAM, N.C.—Virginia remained atop the Baseball America Top 25 rankings for the sixth consecutive week after going 2-1 at the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament. Arizona State, which won a road series against Stanford, flip-flopped with Texas, which went 0-3 at the Big 12 tournament. The Sun Devils climbed a spot to No. 2, while the Longhorns fell a spot to No. 3.
The biggest mover of the week was Florida State, which leapt four places to No. 10 after winning the ACC tournament. Texas A&M and Louisiana State moved into the rankings at No. 22 and No. 23, respectively, after winning the Big 12 and Southeastern conference tournaments. It was the third consecutive SEC championship for defending national champion LSU, which has once again gotten hot at the perfect time of year.
Oregon and Clemson dropped out of the rankings. The Ducks dropped a home series against California, while the Tigers went 1-2 in the ACC tournament.
The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through games of May 30 and do not include ties. The rankings now go on hiatus until after the College World Series, when Baseball America will release final, end-of-season rankings.
