College Top 25: June 10
Miami remains No. 1
Staff Report
June 10, 2008
DURHAM, N.C.—It was another great weekend for the ACC front-runners, as all three of the conference's powers won their respective Super Regionals and advanced to Omaha. Accordingly, there's little movement at the top of Baseball America's Top 25 rankings, where the top three teams remain the same, led by No. 1 Miami. The Hurricanes dropped their opener against Arizona but rallied to win the final two games of the weekend.
Louisiana State, Rice, Stanford, Georgia and Fresno State also won their super-regionals, and all are ranked in the top eight.
The biggest climber of the week is, of course, Fresno State, which jumped nine spots after upsetting Arizona State to become the first No. 4 seed to make the College World Series since the field was expanded to 64 teams in 1999. Stanford also made a big move after sweeping Cal State Fullerton over the weekend, jumping five spots. Consequently, Arizona State and Cal State Fullerton took a hit in the rankings, as did UC Irvine and Coastal Carolina.
The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through games of June 9 and do not include ties.
