DURHAM, N.C.—Miami won a series on the road against Virginia Tech to remain at No. 1. in the Baseball America Top 25 Rankings. The Hurricanes have yet to lose a weekend series this season and have been No. 1 for six straight weeks.
The Top 5 in the Rankings remained status quo as each team won its weekend series, including No. 5 Nebraska's series win over No. 9 Texas A&M in what was one of the best series of the season. Georgia moved into the Top 10 after defeating then-No. 18 Vanderbilt on the road to clinch the SEC's regular-season title. Cal State Fullerton also moved into the Top 10 by defeating Cal Poly over the weekend, the Titans' eighth straight weekend series victory.
Louisiana State was one of the biggest movers of the week. After getting into the Rankings for the first time this year last week, the Tigers swept SEC foe Mississippi State over the weekend to improve their winning streak to 12 games and vault six spots in the Rankings to No. 16. Other teams in the middle of the Rankings that made moves included California, Michigan, and St. John's, each of whom moved up three spots.
One new team moved into the rankings this week. Tulane won its series on the road against East Carolina to improve its record to 36-15 overall and 13-6 in Conference USA. The Green Wave returned to the Rankings at No. 25 for the first time since early March, replacing South Carolina.
