College Top 25: March 10

State of Arizona holds top two spots

DURHAM, N.C.—Arizona remains No. 1 in Baseball America's Top 25 college baseball rankings, with cross-state rival Arizona State meeting the Wildcats near the top of the charts at No. 2.

The Wildcats have won 10 straight since losing their season opener and threw three straight shutouts over the weekend to retain the top spot. The undefeated Sun Devils, however, have scored in double digits in eight of 12 games and scored 71 runs in five games last week, cementing their move up the rankings. The two Grand Canyon State teams aren't the only movers from the Pacific-10 Conference, either. California moved up six spots to No. 12 while Bay Area rival Stanford moved into the rankings for the first time at No. 18 after winning a weekend series at Texas.

At the other end of the spectrum, preseason No. 1 UCLA moved down to No. 11, as the Bruins had their first losing week, while two-time national champion Oregon State continued its slow start. The 5-5 Beavers dropped 10 spots, checking in this week at 22.

The other big movers of the volatile week included UC Irvine, up to No. 13 after winning a series at then-No. 23 Tulane; Kentucky, which at 11-0 jumped seven spots to No. 17; and Michigan, which had its second straight losing weekend to fall to No. 25.

The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through games of March 9 and do not include ties.
