Staff Report
February 26, 2007
DURHAM, N.C.--In a week where the top 10 teams in the rankings remained the same, five teams dropped out of Baseball America's Top 25 college rankings.
Long Beach State, a team with 21 underclassmen that is coming together quickly, makes its 2007 debut, jumping in at No. 19. The Dirtbags (8-4) have played more than half of their games against Top 25 teams. Just behind the Dirtbags, UC Riverside also makes its first Top 25 appearance of the season. The Highlanders last appeared in the Top 25 in 2003, ranking as high as No. 18 that year.
No. 22 Coastal Carolina, No. 24 North Carolina State, and No. 25 Texas A&M, three teams that have lost just one game apiece, round out the newcomers on the Top 25. Texas A&M has a 10-game winning streak that includes a victory over No. 6 Rice two weeks ago.
No. 23 UCLA and No. 21 Oklahoma State took the biggest tumbles on the week, dropping from No. 15 and No. 17, respectively.
The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through games of February 25 and do not include ties.
