Miami won its third straight opening weekend series against Rutgers thanks to good pitching and outstanding defense—the Hurricanes made just one error in three games (.993 fielding percentage). Fr. LHP Bryan Radziewski (6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K) shined in his debut Friday, and three relievers combined to throw five innings of two-hit, shutout ball. So. RHP Eric Whaley (5.2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K) cruised until giving up Steve Nyisztor's three-run homer in the sixth Sunday, but Miami's five-run fourth inning held up.
