Jr. C Micah Gibbs delivered the eventual game-winning RBI single Friday, then went 4-for-4 in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader. William & Mary scored three runs in the top of the first in the nightcap, but LSU responded with seven runs over the next four frames in support of Fr. LHP Jordan Rittiner (6 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 1 ER).

Jr. LHP Cody Wheeler (7.2 IP, 10 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K) bested Irvine ace Daniel Bibona in the first game of Saturday's twin bill. The Chanticleers erased a 6-4 deficit with nine unearned, two-out runs in the nightcap. Jr. LHP Jim Birmingham (6 IP, 7 H, 1 ER) earned his second win of the week Sunday against N.C. State; he had already thrown five shutout innings Tuesday against Wake Forest.

The Cardinal was shut out on five hits Friday, and Texas broke open a 1-0 game in the fifth when Kevin Keyes hit a grand slam off So. RHP Jordan Pries (5.1 IP, 7 H, 6 ER, 4 BB, 0 K). Stanford did not get better starts the next two days from So. LHPs Scott Snodress (3.2 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 2 K) and Brett Mooneyham (5 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 7 K). The Cardinal offense hit just .189 in the series and produced just five runs. Stanford will play an exhibition Tuesday against Rikkyo(Japan).

Sr. OF James Meador hit a decisive two-run homer in the third inning Saturday in support of So. LHP Sammy Solis (6 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 6 K). Meader went 3-for-4 with three RBIs in a losing effort Sunday, as San Diego State erased a 4-0 deficit with four runs in the seventh, then won it with five runs (four unearned) in the ninth. Jr. RHP Kyle Blair (6.1 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 6 BB, 11 K) got a no-decision in that one.

Jr. RHP Todd McInnis (6.2 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 10 K) pitched well in defeat Friday, but the Golden Eagles mustered just four hits against Jeff Tardiff (7 IP, 4 H, 1 ER) and two relievers. Vollmuth had four hits Saturday in support of Sr. RHP Scott Copeland (7 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 7 K). Southern Miss fell behind 9-1 after 2 1/2 innings Sunday but rallied to make things interesting.
