Texas 3, Boston College 2 (25 Innings) May 31, 2009
The longest Division I game ever also included one of the most epic individual performances of all time. Senior lefthander Austin Wood wouldn't let Texas lose, throwing 12 1/3 no-hit innings and 13 shutout innings overall in relief. He threw 169 pitches to help the Longhorns stave off the upset bid, and the 'Horns went on to win the game and the regional en route to a berth in the CWS Finals.
CWS GAME OF THE DECADE
Louisiana State 6, Stanford 5, 2000 (championship game)
The only walk-off CWS title game of the decade saw the Tigers rally past the Cardinal, which led 5-2 in the bottom of the seventh and had righthander Justin Wayne on the mound in cruise control. LSU tied the game with home runs by Blair Barbier and Jeremy Witten, then won in the bottom of the ninth when senior catcher Brad Cresse drove home Ryan Theriot with a single. "You always want to go out winning the national championship, and it came true," Cresse said. "Last night, I dreamt about being up at the plate with the winning run on base. I dreamt of a home run, but I'll take a single."
