Summer College Leagues: Top 10 Prospects

Once again, Baseball America presents Top 10 Prospect lists for 18 different summer leagues--and a Top 30 list for the unparalleled Cape Cod League
. While the Cape remains without rival for professional talent, the Northwoods League continued to attract top players from around the nation to the Midwest, and the Coastal Plain League continued its rise into the ranks of the elite summer leagues with an outstanding collection of talent.
It was also a fine year for mainstays such as the Clark Griffith League, the New England Collegiate League and the Central Illinois Collegiate League.
The Alaska League, meanwhile, came back down a bit in talent after hosting a pair of first-round picks a year ago. The Texas Collegiate League had another solid year from a talent perspective, but off-field concerns about the league's financial health emerged after the season and hang like a storm cloud over the league's future. We also have our first-ever top 10s from the MINK (that's Missouri-Iowa- Nebraska-Kansas) and California Collegiate leagues.
Top 10 Prospects lists were compiled at the conclusion of the extensive process of gathering information from league coaches and scouts. As with most Baseball America rankings, emphasis is on long-term professional potential over collegiate potential. Players are identified with their class in school as of the 2007-'08 academic year.
