GT has the nation's longest win streak at 13 games, and this is the third-best start in school history (17-0 in 2003). So. CF Danny Payne went 10-for-14 at the plate, including a homer and seven RBIs Friday, and is batting .436 on the year. Tech batted .404 in the series; Rutgers, .202.

OF Jordan Dodson has hit in 13 straight games. Crowds totaled 9,971 for the three-game set matching the 2003 and 2004 CWS champs.

CSF scrapped out just six hits Saturday in a game that was tied at 2 after seven innings. Sr. 2B Justin Turner had hits in both of those games, but his hit streak died at 14 games Sunday when the team pounded out 13 hits. So. DH Jared Clark homered twice and drove in six runs.

Jr. 3B Ryne Malone and Jr. RF Jack Rye both homered twice Saturday, though Malone's blasts both came in a 15-run fifth inning.

Sr. RF Quinn Stewart went 4-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs Saturday before a 2-for-3, three-RBI game Sunday that included a two-run single that capped a four-run eighth-inning rally.

LHP Tony Watson (6.1 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 8 K) was stellar Saturday before So. SS Ryan Wehrle put Nebraska ahead for good with an RBI double in the eighth inning. So. RHP Johnny Dorn (6 IP, 3 H, 0 R) and Sr. 1B Brandon Buckman (2 HR, 3 RBI) keyed Sunday's win.

Florida has lost five of its last seven games, all of which Matt LaPorta (oblique strain) has missed. UF batted .145 in the series and was shut out twice on the weekend after going scoreless only once in 2005. Florida hadn't lost a nonconference series at home since 2000. So. RHP Bryan Augenstein improved to 4-0, 1.15 on Saturday (CG, 3 H, 0 BB, 8 K).

The kids are coming along quickly. Fr. LHP/DH Ike Davis went 10-for-17 on the week, hitting grand slams on Tuesday and Friday, when he tallied seven RBIs. He drove in 13 runs for the week, in which he won a 4.1-inning start Tuesday and threw four more innings Sunday before leaving the mound after taking a liner off his arm. (He stayed in as DH.) Fr. RHP Jeff Urlaub (7 IP, 7 H, ER, 0 BB, 5 K) improved to 4-0 Friday night.

Jr. C Josh Stinson went 5-for-10 with a three-run double Friday and a solo home run Saturday. Jr. RHP Austin Creps (7.1 IP, 3 H, 0 BB, 5 K) earned the win Sunday to improve to 2-1, 1.01. Jr. RHP Kyle Nicholson (6 IP, 5 H, 0 R) and Fr. RHP Kyle Thebeau (7 IP, 2 H, 2 R, ER) were strong in the first two games.

UNLV staged three comebacks Saturday, finalizing the thing with two in the bottom of the ninth. The Rebels scored three in the ninth Sunday, but needed one more. Jr. 3B Nick Peoples went 9-for-10 in the first two games of the series, finishing with 11 hits, seven runs, six RBIs and two homers over three games.

Jr. RHP Jared Hughes (7 IP, 5 H, 3 ER) improved to 4-0 Friday, but Jr. RHP Andrew Carpenter's 17-inning scoreless string ended Saturday as he took his first loss after giving up four runs in 6.1 innings. Jr. 2B Matt Cline has a six-game hit streak and .391 average overall.

UCLA silenced NC State's bludgeoning offense, breaking out its own whooping sticks Sunday with five homers as So. RHP Andrew Brackman (2.1 IP, 6 H, 5 ER) took the worst of it. The Wolfpack entered the series averaging 12 runs per game and scored eight total. So. 3B Matt Mangigni went 2-for-13 in the series; his average dipped to .574.

Jr. RHP Heath Rollins struck out 10 batters Saturday, but allowed 12 runs (seven earned) on 14 hits over 6.2 innings. Fr. RHP Alex Wilson (7 IP, 3 R, ER) left with a lead Friday, but Winthrop couldn't withstand a six-run Kent State eighth inning.
