Jr. LF Tyler Colvin went 6-for-11 in the series with five runs and three RBIs. Clemson ripped 10 doubles on the weekend, including seven in the finale. Mercer scored three runs--two unearned--in the eighth inning to win the middle game, snapping Clemson's 11-game home win streak. 5,569 fans came to Sunday's doubleheader.

RF Matt Spencer totaled five hits (two homers), six RBIs and three steals on the weekend. So. 1B Chad Flack missed the last two games with a foot/ankle injury.

Missouri Jr. RHP Max Scherzer dominated (7 IP, 3 H, ER, BB, 8 K) in a blowout, a sign of things to come for a weekend in which Florida batted .265, posted a 5.67 ERA and made nine errors. Jr. 1B Matt LaPorta didn't play in any of the games after straining an oblique Wednesday. He's day to day. Jr. RHP Bryan Augenstein (7.1 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 0 ER) was the lone bright spot in the only win.

Fr. DH David Cooper hasn't realized he's not supposed to have a hit in all 12 games, so he does and leads the Titans with a .424 average and 12 RBIs after five hits and five RBIs against UCLA. Sr. 2B Justin Turner has been red hot, with his own 11-game hit streak. So. RHP Wes Roemer has 28 K's and no walks in 29 innings this season, and Jr. RHP Lauren Gagnier set career bests with eight K's and eight IP Saturday.

South Carolina's offense got healthy against Duquense, with season bests of 15 runs and 16 hits Friday. It has won seven straight games. Jr. DH Robbie Grinestaff hit two three-run homers in the series and finished with seven RBIs and six runs scored. Fr. 1B Justin Smoak posted a 3-for-3 Sunday with two doubles, a homer and five RBIs, finishing the weekend by reaching base in seven straight plate appearances.

10. FLORIDA STATE

FSU now has won 19 straight home games, and Mike Martin on Saturday became the eighth coach to earn win No. 1,400. Jr. C Dennis Guinn helped that cause with a 4-for-4 game that included a grand slam. The Seminoles did it all with little help from Jr. CF Shane Robinson, who went hitless in the first two games (egads!) before getting two knocks Sunday. Jr. RHP Tyler Chambliss didn't pitch; he was held back to face Florida on Tuesday. Jr. RHP Bryan Henry did pitch and struck out eight over seven scoreless innings.

Make it two big series wins over 2005 College World Series participants in a row for the Waves, who beat Oregon State a week ago. So. RF Donald Brown was a big reason why, with a 7-for-11 weekend that included five runs and seven RBIs thanks to a four-hit, five-RBI finale. Pepperdine reached double-figures in hits in all three games, batting .322 on the weekend.

RHP Adrian Alaniz (8 IP, 4 H, 3 BB, 10 K) dominated Friday, and Jr. RHP Kyle McCulloch didn't allow an earned run Saturday (7 IP, 4 H, R). Fr. 3B Bradley Suttle tallied six hits and six RBIs on the weekend and has reached base safely in all 15 games. Jr. CF Drew Stubbs has a nine-game hit streak.

Jr. RHP Derik Olvey threw eight scoreless innings in the middle game to improve to 3-0, 0.39. Jr. LHP Clay Dirks threw a five-hit complete game with a career-best 12 K's in the opener. Gorillas might be an endangered species in Baton Rouge; LSU hit one homer in the series (No. 1 for Jr. 1B Jordan Mayer) and five through 11 games.

The Wolfpack offense showed it could play situational baseball, scoring eighth-inning runs that proved the difference in the final two games. Credit So. OF Ryan Pond and Jr. 1B Aaron Bates with the RBI hits. So. RHP/PF Andrew Brackman took advantage of a week off on the basketball schedule to throw 47 pitches in a Sunday start (2.1 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, BB, 2 K). So. 3B Matt Mangini produced a seven-hit weekend, and his average dipped to .680.

Quiet bats and four errors caused a loss in the opener, and TCU took no chances in the second game, bringing in Jr. LHP Brad Furnish to close things out and burning his chance to start the finale. He earned his second save in as many games by closing out that win as well, working a scoreless ninth after TCU scored three times in the bottom of the eighth.

Sr. CF Tommy Lentz recorded two hits and two RBIs in all three games and has 14 RBIs on the year. That's one behind team leader Jacob Dempsey, who drove in three on a Sunday homer.
