Velazquez had an inconsistent spring for an inconsistent Fresno State club, which could have a half-dozen players drafted. Velazquez has a pitcher's frame at 6-foot-4, 200 pounds and has shifted back and forth between starting and relieving in college, fitting better in the bullpen. At his best, he's reached 96 mph with his fastball while punishing hitters inside with a hard cutter. At others, his velocity falls to a very average 90-92 mph. His lack of a consistent breaking ball keeps him from racking up too many strikeouts (38 K in 56 IP), and he's around the plate a lot, making him hittable for a power pitcher.
