The younger brother of Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado (a second-round pick in 2009), Jonah started generating draft buzz down the stretch this spring. Like his brother before him, Arenado is a high school shortstop who projects as a third baseman as he fills out his 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame. His hands work in the infield, but he lacks the range for shortstop. His solid-average arm and decent actions should play at the hot corner. Arenado showed more bat speed in the second half of the spring than he had in the past, with gap power that figures to grow into more. His approach needs refinement, but his swing mechanics are sound, giving him a chance to become an average hitter down the road.
