Johnson helped Central Arizona to a runner-up finish at the 2011 Junior College World Series, then sat out 2012 while getting his transcript in order for Louisville. He batted a soft .264 in the first month of this season before an oblique injury sidelined him for two weeks. Since his return, the redshirt junior has been as dangerous as anyone in the Cardinals lineup and may have hit himself into the top 10 rounds of the draft. A 5-foot-11, 205-pounder, he has holes in his righthanded swing but manages to make consistent contact and shows average power. His most impressive tool is his well above-average speed, and ran the 60-yard dash in 6.37 seconds on Louisville's scout day in the fall. Johnson's quickness plays much better on the bases than in the outfield, where he's a below-average defender with a below-average arm.
