Garcia is the rare college first baseman who is a good athlete. He was a two-time letterman in basketball as well as a baseball standout in high school, and he grew into one the top two-way talents in Div. II. The lefthanded Garcia ranks among PLNU's all-time leaders in home runs and RBIs and hit .344 with 14 homers and 39 RBIs as a senior. He has impressive feel to hit and drives balls into both gaps, including against mid-90s velocity the few times he faced it. Defensively Garcia is slick at first base with excellent hands and good footwork, so much so that one opposing coach called him the best defensive first baseman he'd seen in 15 years. Garcia also checks makeup boxes with toughness and work ethic. Garcia hasn't consistently faced good competition, but a number of evaluators believe he can be a solid-average hitter with double-digit home runs.
