Hockin is part of baseball royalty, as his maternal grandfather was Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew. His younger brother Grant signed for $1.1 million as the Indians'' 2014 second-round pick. Chad has a shorter, stronger frame than his brother at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, and has flashed some of the nastiest stuff of any college closer this side of Louisville's 100-mph throwing Zack Burdi. Hockin has topped out at 97-98 mph according to some scouts, though he more typically sits in the 91-95 range, even after missing a couple of weeks with arm tenderness. His slider gives him a second plus pitch, as it has power--at times up to 86-87 mph, sitting 83-85--and some tilt. Hockin hasn't quite dominated (21 SO through his first 23 IP), and he hasn't quite reached 100 innings pitched over three college seasons, even counting his summer college work, so durability is a question mark.
