Adams is a big (6-foot-2, 250 pound) first baseman, but one with massive power and a lengthy resume of battering pitches. His value is entirely in the batter's box, and some scouts question whether he has even an average hit tool thanks to the big swing he takes. But he was the unanimous Big 10 Player of the Year after hitting .339 with 27 home runs and scouts give him 70 grades for his raw power. He hit .302/.406/.585 in the first game of weekend series, so he's had no issues hitting against the best competition he faced. And he also hit .360 with 25 home runs for Des Moines (Iowa) CC as a sophomore, setting a school record for single-season home runs as well as setting Des Moines' career mark with 42 in two seasons. He was supposed to go to North Dakota, but ended up in Iowa City after North Dakota shut down its baseball team. Adams is a below-average runner, thrower and defender at first, but his track record of hitting for power will likely entice an analytically-inclined team, which nowadays is a description fitting almost all 30 teams.
