A high school football star who has brought a play-through-pain mentality to the diamond, Johnson bounced back from a very disappointing sophomore season to lead the Longhorns at the plate this spring. Some of his struggles last year were likely a result of playing through a wrist injury. After taking the summer off to get healthy, Johnson has shown improved contact ability while also displaying increased power this spring. He profiles as an average hitter with potentially fringe-average power. Johnson has played left field at Texas, but he should slide over to center field as a pro. He's a 70 runner who should be able to handle the increased defensive responsibilities, although his routes need to improve. Sometimes he still looks like a football player playing baseball. Johnson has average arm strength but it should be plenty for center as he gets rid of the ball quickly and is generally accurate.
