Dacey's collegiate career began at Michigan, but he didn't get into game action with the Wolverines, and he opted to transfer to Richmond. As a rising sophomore, Dacey starred in the summer Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, where he showed off his plus raw power and won the league's home run derby. As a sophomore, Dacey hit 12 of Richmond's 36 total home runs, and his aggressive approach improved. In 2015, Dacey showed even more power, swatting 17 home runs and slugging .652 for the Spiders. Dacey has grown as a hitter, and shows the ability to loft the ball to the opposite field, though his power is mostly up the middle and to his pull side. Dacey's offensive game comes with some swing-and-miss, but some scouts believe there is enough raw ability in his bat for his power to play. Dacey has also proven to be a capable, albeit unspectacular, defender at third base, and he shows potential for an average arm. Dacey is a well below-average runner.
