Lawlor began his college career at Middle Georgia JC before transferring to Georgia for his sophomore year and taking over as the Bulldogs Friday night starter. Lawlor doesn't have overwhelming stuff, but has good feel for pitching and knows how to succeed with his arsenal. His fastball velocity has ticked up a bit at Georgia and he now throws the pitch in the upper 80s, topping out at 92 mph. That added velocity has come at the expense of some of his command and he averaged four walks per nine innings this spring. His curveball and changeup are both average offerings, but he doesn't have a true out pitch. That, plus his smaller frame (he's listed at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds), means he'll likely end up as a reliever, but he could carve out a role for himself as a back-of-the-rotation starter
