Piatnik began his college career at Stetson before transferring for his sophomore year. He played well for the Manatees, impressing scouts with his above-average speed and soft hands. The switch-hitter has a balanced swing from both sides of the plate and uses the whole field to hit, but won't provide much power. He is a smooth defender and has an average arm. Piatnik is the son of long-time Diamondbacks scout Mike Piatnik and earns praise for his makeup and approach to the game.
