Haynal, a fourth-year junior, had a breakout spring to help power the Aztecs back to regionals, hitting .313/.366/.571 with 12 home runs, nearly half of his team's total of 25 heading into the postseason. At 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, he has plenty of strength in his righthanded swing, with the ability to drive balls out of the park the opposite way or to the pull side. He's rather stiff behind the plate but has a chance to be a fringy defender with an average arm, giving him a backup catcher/first base/DH profile. A team that believes he can catch could take him in the eighth-to-10th-round range, but others see him as a better fit between rounds 10 and 15.
