Rizzotti began his career at Texas Christian, making six appearances before a knee injury sidelined him. He has had two knee surgeries, one as a prep senior on his right knee, and one to repair cartilage in his left knee in 2011. He missed the 2012 season while attending Grayson (Texas) JC, then transferred to Tulane. He started the year with a shutout against Alabama, and his stuff was electric. At his best, Rizzotti shows two big league plus pitches: a fastball that can sit 94-96 mph with late life in the zone, and a wipeout slider. He has a slinging arm action and doesn't have a third pitch he trusts, so he could be fast-tracked as a reliever. However, he'll have to show he's healthy, and he was scratched from a May start due to back spasms. Tulane's poor season may end his campaign early, which would leave his draft status up to his health and showing in pre-draft workouts.
