The son of former Fullerton great and longtime big leaguer Tim Wallach, Chad has a savvy, hard-nosed approach that befits his bloodlines. In his first year as an everyday catcher, Wallach has made significant strides defensively and at the plate. Physical and durable at 6-foot-3, 220 pounds, his receiving and blocking have improved to the point that scouts project him as an average defensive backstop with an average arm. He was hitting .314/.401/.467 through 137 at-bats this spring. He flashes pull power in batting practice, but his game power projects as below-average. Wallach's high leg kick leads to timing issues, and he tends to get caught on his front foot. His swing has some length to it, which could limit his ability to hit for average, but he could provide enough offensive value to reach the big leagues as a solid defensive catcher.
