WISCONSIN **

Wisconsin rarely produces early draft picks and won't buck that trend in 2001. The state's top player, catcher Jason Jaramillo, projects as a 10th-round choice at best.

1.Jason Jaramillo, c, Racine Case HS, Racine
2.Scott Whitrock, of, Madison Tech JC
3.Jeremy Liebfried, rhp, Potosi HS
4.Steve Huggins, rhp-1b, Waukesha South HS, Waukesha
5.Jeremy Wilson, c, Burlington Catholic HS, Twin Lakes

Projected First-Round Picks

None.

Possible Second- to Fifth-Round Picks

None.

Others To Watch:

With a catching drought in the 2001 draft, Jason Jaramillo could go as early as the seventh round. He has solid catch-and-throw skills, and he's a switch-hitter with offensive promise . . . OF Scott Whitrock, a National Junior College Athletic Association Division II all-American, batted .474-16-54 with 32 steals. He has a strong right-field arm to go with his bat and speed . . . Six-foot-3, 180-pound RHP Jeremy Liebfried is projectable and has a fastball that touches 90 mph with nice sink. Scouts aren't sure they can sign him away from Wisconsin-Milwaukee . . . RHP/1B Steve Huggins has a similar build and arm, and he's more likely to turn pro.
