Regional Breakdown

Baseball Americas draft coverage is coordinated by our draft expert, editor Allan Simpson, as well as executive editor Jim Callis. The analysis and scouting reports are done in consultation with baseball personnel nationwide, including general managers, scouting directors, national crosscheckers, area scouts and college coaches.

The region-by-region reports were compiled and written by Simpson (West and Northeast) and Callis (South and Midwest). Additional reporting was done by online editor Josh Boyd, senior writer John Manuel and correspondent Michael Levesque.

Each state (or group of states) has been graded on a five-star rating system, with five stars indicating a strong year for talent and one star indicating a poor year. The ratings are based on the level of talent an area generally produces, so that California isn't graded on the same scale as the Dakotas.
