Randy Truselo, rhp
Delcastle Tech; New Castle, Del.

Truselo has been a high-profile player since his sophomore year in high school, when he had a 90-93 mph fastball and 80-83 slider. He hasn't been as consistently dominant since then but started this year strong. He was talked about as a possible first-round pick until his velocity dropped and his mechanics became inconsistent. Overall, he went 7-2, 0.82 with 111 strikeouts and 15 walks in 59 innings. Truselo's makeup is a concern, stemming in part from his older brother Tom, who quit the game shortly after signing with the Cardinals several years ago. Truselo is so eager to play pro ball, though, that he's passed on taking college-entrance exams.
