Daylan Holt, of
Texas A&M

Photo: Glen Johnson

Holt led the nation with 34 home runs in 1999, making him a solid candidate to go early in the first round this year. He slumped early as he was pitched around extensively and got little protection in a young Texas A&M lineup. He pressed as he felt like he had to carry the whole team on his back. Holt's power eventually returned in the second half, but he ended up hitting just 15 home runs and his stock has dipped. If he still goes in the first round, it will be late. Most of his other tools still play well, notably his right-field arm--one of the best around.
