2008 Bonuses Vs. Slots

Bonuses and estimated slot recommendations by MLB for the first five rounds of the 2008 draft, as well as the estimated slots for the same picks in the prior two drafts. MLB established guidelines for every pick through the first five rounds, and set a $150,000 ceiling (roughly equivalent to the final choice in the fifth round) for subsequent rounds. Boldface denotes above-slot bonuses, asterisks indicate the bonus was part of a major league contract and plus signs signify a two-sport contract (allowing the club to spread the bonus over as many as five years).
