The high-risk, high-reward approach has been tempered in recent years by signing steadier picks such as Jered Weaver and draft-and-follow Sean O'Sullivan.
This Year's Outlook: The Angels don't have a first-rounder or second-rounder thanks to free-agent signings, picking 58th and 118th overall. With owner Arte Moreno and scouting director Eddie Bane, the Angels haven't shied away from players who fall because of high price tags, and they also haven't been afraid to buck the consensus.
