Trend: Pitching, pitching, pitching. When the Marlins had five first-rounders and supplemental picks in 2005, they used them all on pitchers. The organization went to hitters more last year, though it still used its top pick on a pitcher. The Marlins' scouting staff has ties to Oklahoma and often will go to that well if a player from there is a fit.
This Year's Outlook: The organization's lack of impact bats is a gaping hole in an otherwise healthy system. Athletes are always welcome for the Marlins, but right now, so would another polished bats like 2006 supplemental pick Chris Coghlan.
