Scouting Director: Chris Buckley (first year: 2006)
Order in 2007 Rotation: 15th
Extra Picks: Supplemental first round (34th, for loss of Type A free agent Rich Aurilia to Giants), supplemental first round (53rd, for loss of Type B free agent Scott Schoeneweis to Mets), third round (104th for Aurilia)
Lost Picks: None
Trend: The Reds have started to find talent, first under Terry Reynolds (who is now farm director), then again last year with ex-Blue Jays scouting director Chris Buckley making the final calls. Buckley's background was borne out in the heavy dose of middle infielders in last year's class.
This Year's Outlook: The Reds pick at 15th and have two extra picks in the supplemental first round (as well as an extra third-rounder), and the thin crop of infielders--especially the lack of college prospects--may prompt them to go in that direction at 15. After going college-heavy last year, look for the Reds to follow the talent to the prep ranks in 2007.
