Scouting Director: Roy Clark (first year: 2000)
Order in 2007 Rotation: 14th
Extra Picks: Supplemental
first round (33rd, for loss of Type A free agent Danys Baez to Orioles), Second round (70th, for loss of Baez)
Lost
Picks: None
Trend: The Braves have drafted more college players lately than they had previously, and they were the heaviest users of the draft-and-follow rule. Roy Clark & Co. like athletes and prep pitchers, particularly if they're from Georgia.
This Year's
Outlook: Atlanta will dip heavily into this year's deep high school class because they scout such players as as any club. How the Braves react to the end of the draft-and-follow process (based on the new universal signing date of Aug. 15) will be interesting to watch.
