Former NBA All-Star Tracy McGrady has made it clear he wants to transition to baseball with his basketball days over, and he has tried out for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League. The video above shows him flashing a surprisingly smooth windup for someone with little baseball experience, although a little long in the arm follow-through.
According to onlookers such as Baseball America contributor Jose de Jesus Ortiz, McGrady was hitting 85 mph and also throws a splitter, changeup and slider.
"This would be huge," McGrady told Ortiz of the opportunity to play baseball professionally. "This would be so gratifying. Even if I just go out there and pitch one inning for a whole season, I mean, it's a dream that's come true for me. "I never gave up on that dream. It's here. I'm living it. Nobody can tell me different."

McGrady is 6-foot-8 but looks thicker than his NBA days. Former Astros president Tal Smith told Ortiz McGrady has promise. Tracy has a lot going for him,” said Smith, who serves as a special adviser with the Skeeters. "He's obviously got great athletic ability. He's got a good arm and it's a fresh arm.”
