Rookie Dish: Morales Blasts A Pair

Prospect Of The Day

On a slow night for many high-profile prospects, Elizabethton (Twins) center fielder Angel Morales ran away with POTD honors. He is now batting .333/.438/.620 after going 3-for-5 with two home runs and driving in all five of Elizabethton’s runs last night versus Kingsport. The power surge comes after Morales tallied just one extra-base hit in his last eight games, giving him nine home runs and 19 RBIs in 129 at-bats.

Great Falls (White Sox) shortstop Tyler Kuhn raised his batting average to .380 with a 4-for-6 effort, also doubling three times and logging his seventh triple of the season . . . Former Rice southpaw Cole St. Clair picked up the second save of his professional career for Ogden (Dodgers) after he allowed two hits and one earned run in two frames . . . The No. 1 overall selection continues to disappoint, as Princeton (Rays) shortstop Tim Beckham is now batting .208 after a 1-for-6 performance in yesterday’s doubleheader . . . Righthander Kyle Drabek made his second post-Tommy John start for the GCL Phillies, tossing two innings, allowing one hit, walking two and fanning two . . . Notching his fifth multi-hit game in his last six, Helena (Brewers) center fielder Erik Komatsu was 2-for-3 with a run and a triple . . . Inconsistency has characterized Anthony Hewitt’s brief professional career to date, but he was on the upswing yesterday, going 2-for-4 and rapping his sixth double of the season while playing third base for the GCL Phillies.
