Released Second Baseman Draws Suspension

Former Mets minor league second baseman Brandon Brown, released by New York at the end of spring training, must sit out 50 games if he signs with a new organization.

A 22nd-round pick in 2010 from South Alabama, Brown tested positive for metabolites of Stanozolol, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the drug program. The 25-year-old played 91 games at low Class A Savannah last season, batting .222/.301/.334 with five homers in 329 at-bats.
