HE’S WHERE?: Outfielder Henry Urrutia, the Cuban defector who signed with Baltimore last July for $778,500, is sticking around extended spring to complete paperwork and get needed at-bats. Urrutia reported in early March after spending the previous eight months in Haiti while working out visa issues. The 26-year-old hasn’t played competitively since the 2009-10 Serie Nacional season, in which he hit .399/.461/.597. He’s expected to join Double-A Bowie this spring.
WHO’S MISSING: Top prospect Dylan Bundy’s rise to the majors hit a bump this spring when he was sidelined with tightness in his right elbow following his final minor league spring start. Baltimore has shut him down, delaying his expected 2013 debut in the Baysox rotation.
GO SEE: The Orioles may be short on depth but have a pair of premium arms in righthander Kevin Gausman—the quirky, donut-eating, fourth-overall pick last June out of Louisiana State—and Bundy—who rose from low Class A to the majors in his professional debut last season. The duo should headline the Baysox rotation once Bundy returns from an elbow injury.
