Prospect Of The Day

Not a whole lot to choose from with only four Sally League games last night, but Rome (Braves) lefthander Jeff Locke worked six shutout innings against Charleston (Yankees), picking up his fifth win of the year as the Braves pulled out a 1-0 win. Locke was able to spread out five hits and two walks for the Charleston offense while striking out five to improve his mark to 5-10, 4.16.

Prospect Nuggets

Locke outdueled Charleston righthander Jairo Heredia, who took the loss after giving up an unearned run in the sixth. Heredia went 6 1/3 innings and gave up five hits and two walks while striking out six … Savannah (Mets) catcher Francisco Pena went 3-for-5 with a triple and an RBI in an 8-6 loss to Columbus (Rays).

What To Watch For Today

Lefthander Zach Britton (10-5, 2.77) takes the mound tonight for Delmarva (Orioles) as they visit Lake County (Indians) at 7:00 EDT.

Midwest League

Prospect Of The Day

South Bend (Diamondbacks) righthander Jarrod Parker fanned a season-high 10 Lansing (Blue Jays) hitters over seven innings. He allow just one run on four hits and walked no one, but he didn’t figure in the decision as the Silver Hawks went on to lose 3-1 in 10 innings. This was the deepest Parker has pitched into a game all season, and his K-BB ratio now stands at 94-28 in 98 innings for the year.

Prospect Nuggets

Clinton (Rangers) righthander Michael Main turned in six shutout innings against Wisconsin (Mariners), allowing only four hits, two walks and striking out six … South Bend left fielder Colin Cowgill went 2-for-5 with a triple and a stolen base. He also scored South Bend’s only run of that game … Burlington (Royals) third baseman Mike Moustakas saw his three-game home run streak end, but he did manage to hit his 18th double of the year in a 6-2 win over Peoria (Cubs). He went 1-for-4 on the night.

What To Watch For Today

Burlington will try to extend their six-game winning streak as they continue their series with Peoria tonight at 8:00 EDT.
