You can read more about Madison Bumgarner’s exploits in today’s Prospect Hot Sheet, but the Augusta (Giants) lefthander did it again last night. He went 6 1/3 shutout innings against Kannapolis (White Sox), allowing only six hits, no walks and striking out 10, including White Sox first-rounder Gordon Beckham twice. Bumgarner extended his shutout streak to 34 1/3 innings, putting him less than six innings away from the SAL record, and improved to 14-3, 1.45 on the year.

Prospect Nuggets

Greensboro (Marlins) center fielder Mike Stanton hit his league-leading 34th home run to help the Grasshoppers notch a come-from-behind 6-5 win over Greenville (Red Sox) … Augusta first baseman Angel Villalona went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles … Greenville shortstop Oscar Tejeda went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a stolen base … Asheville (Rockies) lefthander Christian Friedrich made his low Class A debut after being promoted from short-season Tri-City. Going up against West Virginia’s (Brewers) potent offense, Friedrich battled through four innings, giving up three runs on four hits and four walks. He struck out four.

What To Watch For Today

Rome (Braves) and Savannah (Mets) were rained out yesterday, so they’ll play a doubleheader today. Lefthander Jeff Locke (5-11, 4.08) is scheduled to get the ball in the first game for the Braves.

Prospect Of The Day

Quad Cities (Cardinals) shortstop Niko Vasquez shined in his low Class A debut after getting called up from Rookie-level Johnson City, where he was hitting .317/.416/.462. Vasquez stepped right in last night against Wisconsin (Mariners) and went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored as the River Bandits notched a 5-3 win.

South Bend (Diamondbacks) righthander Daniel Schlereth gave up a run on one hit and walk in one inning of work against Great Lakes (Dodgers). He also struck out two … Beloit (Twins) shortstop Estarlin De Los Santos went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base against Burlington (Royals).

What To Watch For Today

Righthander Michael Main (2-1, 2.60) takes the mound tonight for Clinton (Rangers) against Kane County (Athletics).
