After scorching starts to their fall campaigns, Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant and Brewers outfielder Mitch Haniger have been named the co-players of the week for the Arizona Fall League.
Bryant, the San Diego product and the second overall pick in this year’s draft, hit .500 for the week with two homers, seven hits, 14 total bases and an OPS of 1.000. He was our top-rated prospect in this year’s Northwest League Top 20, and hit .354/.416/.692 in 65 games with short-season Boise.
Haniger, the 38th selection in this year’s draft, shared the league lead in RBIs with Bryant and topped the circuit in doubles, extra-base hits and total bases. He put a cherry on top of the league’s opening day with a grand slam. Between the Midwest and Florida State leagues, Haniger put together a .264/.348/.431 line with 11 homers and 68 RBIs.
