With one of the most impressive rosters in all the land, we were very excited on Tuesday to get the first of a three-game look at the Hickory Crawdads, the Rangers' low Class A affiliate in the South Atlantic League. Two of the bigger names on their roster, third baseman Joey Gallo and center fielder Lewis Brinson, have combined for 53 home runs this year.
The 29th and 39th picks in last year's draft did not disappoint on Tuesday. Each launched a home run off of Greensboro starter Matt Milroy (who was mostly 91-93 with the fastball but pumped it up to 94-96 when Gallo stepped up) in the first inning at NewBridge Bank Park.
We shot video of most of the game (with the Crawdads' lineup, plus Colin Moran, Austin Dean, Avery Romero, Cameron Flynn and Jesus Solorzano on the other side, there wasn't much time for a break), including the Gallo and Brinson bombs. Take a look below.
