Luke Hochevar has had an up-and-down season at Double-A Wichita, but the Royals were impressed enough to promote him to Triple-A Omaha this week.
The No. 1 pick in the 2006 draft was schedule to start for Wichita on Wednesday, but he was told on Tuesday that he was headed to Triple-A instead. Hochevar went 3-6, 4.69 for Wichita with 94 strikeouts and 26 walks in 94 innings. His most recent start was one of his worst of the season as he allowed five runs on seven hits in four innings. Before that he had allowed only one run in his previous two starts.
