Prospect Of The Day

Rancho Cucamonga (Angels) righthander Jordan Walden made his Cal League debut yesterday after going 4-6, 2.18 in 107 innings in the low Class A Midwest League. Lake Elsinore (Padres) was his first high Class A opponent and he secured a win by pitching six shutout innings and allowing three hits and three walks while striking out three.

Inland Empire (Dodgers) catcher Carlos Santana was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored…Bakersfield (Rangers) first baseman Ian Gac went 1-for-3 with his third Cal League home run…Lancaster (Red Sox) catcher Jon Still was 2-for-3 with his 18th home run. He also scored three runs.
What To Watch For Today

Modesto (Rockies) and San Jose (Giants) are separated by a game and a half in the Northern Division and face off in their series finale tonight.

Carolina League

Prospect Of The Day

At 27 years old, Wilmington (Royals) first baseman Brad Correll isn’t much of a prospect, but with only two games being played yesterday there isn’t much of a choice. Correll was playing in just his 15th game of the season, but doubled his home run total for the year. He went 3-for-5 with two home runs and six RBIs.

Prospect Nuggets

Frederick (Orioles) righthander Brandon Erbe earned his first victory in over a month after holding Myrtle Beach to four runs (two earned) over six innings. He allowed just two hits, but walked five and struck out five…Catcher Tyler Flowers was 1-for-2 with at two-run home run for the Pelicans.

What To Watch For Today

Lynchburg (Pirates) lefthander Daniel Moskos (7-6, 6.15) will take the hill against Wilmington.

Florida State League

Prospect Of The Day

It was a slow day in the FSL, but Brevard County (Brewers) catcher Jonathan Lucroy was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, raising his line to .321/.372/.491.

Prospect Nuggets

Fort Myers (Twins) righthander and 27th overall pick Carlos Gutierrez is making his transition to pro ball. He got his first career hold last night after pitching one inning and allowing two runs on four hits and one walk…Tampa (Yankees) righthander Zack McAllister took a loss after allowing four runs (one earned) on seven hits over six innings. He struck out two and walked none, falling to 4-5, 2.50…Clearwater lefthander Joe Savery earned his second straight win after going six innings and allowing just two runs (one earned) on five hits and four walks. He struck out seven and is now 5-8, 3.85.

What To Watch For Today

Dunedin (Blue Jays) is already running away with the Western Division. The Blue Jays are 20-6 and the closest contender is first-half champion Fort Myers (Twins), six games back at 15-13.
