High Desert (Mariners) shortstop Carlos Triunfel has encountered some considerable challenges this season. He’s struggled at the plate and was even suspended by the Mariners for a short period of time. But last night he seemed fine. He went 3-for-5 with a double, grand slam and two runs scored. The grand slam was his fourth round-tripper of the season.
Prospect Nuggets

While Triunfel was fueling an 11-5 win over Lancaster (Red Sox), JetHawks catcher Jon Still was trying to keep his team in the game. He went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs…Inland Empire (Dodgers) third baseman Austin Gallagher was perfect in three at-bats last night and collected his 27th double of the year…Second baseman Adrian Cardenas made his debut for Stockton (Athletics) after being acquired in the deal that sent Joe Blanton to Philadelphia. Cardenas was 2-for-6 with a couple of singles and runs scored.

What To Watch For Today

Teams are still trying to put a blemish on Kevin Pucetas’ record. The San Jose (Giants) righthander is 7-0, 2.49 and faces Bakersfield (Rangers) tonight.

Carolina League

Prospect Of The Day

Myrtle Beach (Braves) outfielder Gorkys Hernandez saw his line jump a few points to .284/.361/.428 after a 4-3 win over Frederick (Orioles). Hernandez was 2-for-3 with a double and run scored.

Prospect Nuggets

First baseman Brandon Snyder was responsible for two of Frederick’s runs. He was 1-for-4 with a two-run home run, his eighth of the season…Righthander Pedro Beato took the loss for Frederick, allowing four runs on nine hits over 6 2/3. He allowed two walks and struck out four. He is now 4-5, 4.48…Lynchburg (Pirates) lefthander Daniel Moskos can’t seem to catch a break or find a groove. He dropped to 7-7, 6.28 yesterday after allowing Wilmington (Royals) five runs (six earned) on 12 hits over 5 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out three.

What To Watch For Today

The Blue Rocks will send righthander Edward Cegarra to the mound today with his 3-4, 4.43 record and his impressive mark of just 11 walks in 61 innings.

Florida State League

Prospect Of The Day

Sarasota (Reds) third baseman Juan Francisco makes a triumphant return to this daily honor. Francisco was 2-for-4 yesterday with a double, home run and four RBIs. He’s now hitting .272/.295/.455.

Prospect Nuggets

Jupiter (Marlins) first baseman Logan Morrison was 1-for-4 yesterday with his 10th home run while lefthander Sean West took the loss to Clearwater (Phillies). He allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits over five innings. He walked three and struck out four. He is now 3-4, 3.42…Righthander Andrew Carpenter went the distance for the Threshers, allowing just one run on four hits. He walked none and struck out seven, improving to 2-3, 2.55.

What To Watch For Today

Brevard County (Brewers) and Tampa (Yankees) were rained out yesterday so a doubleheader is in order today with lefthander Michael Dunn (3-6, 4.68) taking the ball in the nightcap for Tampa.
