High A Dish: Mills Double Dips

California League

Prospect Of The Day

Visalia (Diamondbacks) righthander Wes Roemer hasn’t quite broken out like he would have hoped so far in his short career. But last night looked like one of those nights. He threw eight innings, allowing just two runs on three hits. He walked none and struck out six.

Prospect Nuggets

Only three games were played yesterday and even less prospects were in on the action. But Lake Elsinore (Padres) outfielder Kellen Kulbacki was 2-for-4 with his 13th home run and three RBIs.
What To Watch For Today

Two college arms go against each other tomorrow in the Visalia vs. San Jose (Giants) matchup. Righthander Barry Enright will take the hill for the Oaks while the Giants will send out righthander Kevin Pucetas.

Carolina League

Prospect Of The Day

On any other day, Lynchburg (Pirates) outfielder Jamie Romak takes the award with ease. But Kinston (Indians) first baseman Beau Mills had a career day in yesterday’s doubleheader. In the first game he went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and five RBIs. Then in the nightcap he topped it off with a 1-for-3 performance in which he hit another double and scored a run. On the day he was 5-for-8 with three doubles, three runs, five RBIs and a home run.

Prospect Nuggets

Romak was 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs in a 5-1 win over Frederick (Orioles)…First baseman Brandon Snyder was 2-for-4 with a double for Frederick, but he and his teammates could only scratch out one run on nine hits after they left 23 on base…Winston-Salem (White Sox) righthander John Ely’s season couldn’t be getting worse. Yesterday he fell to 3-9, 5.07 after last just 1 1/3 inning, giving up seven runs (five earned) on five hits and three walks. He struck out one.

What To Watch For Today

The Carolina League has Tuesday off.

Florida State League

Prospect Of The Day

Time to go off the board in the FSL. Brevard County outfielder Chuckie Caufield had a perfect night, going 4-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI, leading the Manatees to a 9-5 win over Lakeland (Tigers).

Prospect Nuggets

Jupiter (Marlins) first baseman Logan Morrison was 2-for-5 with a couple of singles, and the Hammerheads walked off with a run in the bottom of the ninth…Fort Myers (Twins) lefthander Tyler Robertson pitched four innings and took a loss after giving up five runs on five hits and three walks. A couple of Miracle errors allowed only one of Robertson’s surrendered runs to be earned however…Daytona (Cubs) second baseman Tony Thomas did his job as a leadoff man to get on base, going 3-for-5, but his teammates could only knock him in once, and they lost to Dunedin (Blue Jays) 7-4.

What To Watch For Today

With two games being rained out yesterday, there will be two doubleheaders today between Palm Beach (Cardinals) and Clearwater (Phillies), and St. Lucie (Mets) and Tampa (Yankees).
