Major League Baseball announced the rosters for the 2014 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, which will be played on July 13 at Target Field in Minnesota.
This is the 16th annual prospect extravaganza, with the best prospects in the game divided into World and United States teams, based on players’ birthplaces. The U.S. team has won the past four Futures Games and is 9-6 overall. The game will start at 5 p.m. Eastern and be broadcast on MLB Network and MLB.com as well as SiriusXM on XM channel 89 and Sirius channel 209.
Baseball America works with Major League Baseball, the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, MLB.com and the 30 teams to select the two 25-man rosters. Each major league organization is represented with at least one player and no more than two, and players from all full-season minor leagues are eligible.
The teams include 15 first-round picks (12 on the U.S. team) and seven players from the 2013 draft. The Dominican Republic is represented by nine players, followed by Puerto Rico (seven), Venezuela (three) and Colombia (two). Canada, Cuba, Mexico and Panama are each represented by one player on the World Team.
