CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa—Byron Buxton got a rare chance for a player in low Class A Cedar Rapids on Monday—he got the chance to play on a bigger stage.
With the game being broadcast live on Fox Sport North back to the Twins fans in Minnesota, Buxton was given a chance to show them what they can look forward to when he arrives in Minnesota. It’s safe to say that the Twins fans that tuned in walked away impressed.
Buxton went 3-for-4 with a double, triple and three RBIs. But that won’t be what this game will be remembered for. It will be remembered for the catch.
Buxton had already made a nice catch in the left-center field gap to rob Jeimer Candelario of a potential double. But the catch he made to take a double or a triple away from Kane County’s David Bote has to be seen to be believed. (Video from Cedar Rapids’ Metro Studios).
After his 3-for-4 day, Buxton is now hitting .350/.444/.578 with 39 walks and 44 strikeouts.
