The Blue Jays are another team where the prospects in camp were outnumbers by the prospects in minor league camp. A veteran lineup and rotation meant few jobs were up for grabs.
Who’s Hot: With the signing of Frank Thomas, Adam Lind knew that his chances of beginning the season in Toronto were slim, and that proved to be true. Lind his .308/.400/.692 with a surprising two triple in 13 at-bats, but was quickly sent back down to Triple-A Syracuse. Lind seemed to have a pretty good attitude about the demotion, as he saw the writing on the wall.
“It’s a reason to work even harder,” Lind said of being knocked back down to Syracuse. “I’d rather spend this year in the minors and have a full career than not be prepared and end up going up and down my whole career.”
Who’s Not: Outfielder Ryan Patterson’s spring ended quickly as a broken arm will sideline him for three months. Catcher Curtis Thigpen is being groomed to be the Blue Jays catcher of the future, but he’s not ready yet, as an .091/.091/.227 spring showed.
