The Athletics traded for their second outfielder in three days, acquiring Ryan Langerhans from the Braves on Sunday for a player to be named. That comes on the heels of a Friday deal with the Reds for the injured Chris Denorfia. Atlanta ultimately received cash considerations to complete the deal.

A’s Deal For Injured Denorfia

There's no question that the Athletics made a trade for Chris Denorfia on Friday with an eye to the future. The outfielder is expected to miss the entire 2007 season after having Tommy John surgery on April 3. To get Denorfia from the Reds, Oakland parted with two players to be named and cash considerations. Cincinnati acquired Triple-A righthander Marcus McBeth from the A's on Saturday as part of the payment. On June 12, the Reds received lefty Ben Jukich as the second player to be named.

Rangers, Bosox Swap Minor Leaguers

Daniel Haigwood rated as one of the White Sox' best pitching prospects before they traded him for Jim Thome, but his stock has dropped since then. Designated for assignment when the Rangers promoted Jamey Wright to the majors, Haigwood moved on to the Red Sox Thursday in exchange for Double-A righthander Scott Shoemaker and cash.

Dodgers Add Clark To Outfield

With Jason Repko lost indefinitely with a hamstring injury that may require surgery, the Dodgers needed a righthanded hitter capable of playing all three outfield spots. They found one Monday, getting Brady Clark from the Brewers in a deal for Elmer Dessens. Milwaukee also gave Los Angeles $2.1 million to cover the difference in salaries between Clark ($3.8 million) and Dessens ($1.7 million).

Royals Find Alternative At Shortstop

Dissatisfied with the declining play of former American League rookie of the year Angel Berroa, the Royals have sought another option at shortstop. They found one on Friday, with general manager Dayton Moore turning to his former club. Kansas City picked up Tony Pena Jr. from the Braves in exchange for minor league righthander Erik Cordier.
